Enphase guide

Enphase says "Microinverter Not Reporting." Now what?

First, the good news: this message usually means a communication problem, not a production problem. In most cases your panels are still making power. The data just isn't reaching your app.

Quick check: open the Enphase app and look at today's "Produced" number. If energy is still being logged, your system is working and this is a reporting issue, not an outage.

Why this happens

Enphase microinverters talk to your Envoy or IQ Gateway using power line communication: the data signal travels over the same wires that carry electricity in your home. It's clever, but it's sensitive. Electrical noise from LED dimmers, phone chargers, and other electronics can drown out the signal. So can a gateway plugged into the wrong outlet, a surge protector, or a tripped breaker.

Safe steps to try (10 minutes)

  1. Power cycle the gateway. Unplug the Envoy or IQ Gateway, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in. If it's hardwired, flip its dedicated breaker off for 30 seconds. Give it 15 to 60 minutes to re-scan and reconnect.
  2. Check where it's plugged in. The gateway should be in a wall outlet as close to your main electrical panel as possible. Never on a power strip, surge protector, or extension cord, and ideally not sharing the outlet with anything else.
  3. Check the solar breaker. If the breaker for your solar circuit is off, the gateway can't hear the microinverters at all. Reset it once if it's tripped.
  4. Check your internet. If the gateway lost WiFi (new router, changed password), it can't upload data even when everything else is fine.

When it's a real problem

Failed microinverters are often covered by Enphase's warranty even if your original installer is long gone. We handle the diagnosis, the warranty claim, and the swap.
